[ARCHIVED] TOWN UPDATE - Coronavirus Disease Response

coronavirus

The Town of University Park continues to prepare for and monitor the novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. The Town is following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and decisions from state and county health departments to ensure we are aware of the latest information and recommended actions for our area. To help reduce the risk of transmission, the CDC has recommended social distancing measures including reducing activities particularly for those with increased risk of several illness. The safety of our residents and staff are our foremost concern. We expect the Town to continue to operate and carry out essential services. However, we are making the following changes:

Effective March 16, 2020, the Town Hall is closed to all non-essential personnel until further notice. Instead of coming into the Town Hall, try this:

Use the Town website (www.upmd.org). Many Town services like, building and dumpster/pod permits, scheduling of special trash collections, and more can be done via our website (www.upmd.org) or by calling 301-927-4262. Please leave a message and staff will return your call.

Permitting questions and/or applications should be directed to Town Clerk Andrea Marcavitch at amarcavitch@upmd.org; 301-927-4262 ext. 101. Permitting information and forms can be found at www.upmd.org/197/Forms-Permits-Licenses.

Public Works related services should be directed to Public Works Director Mickey Beall at mbeall@upmd.org; 301-927-4262 ext. 200; Public Works services can be found on our website at www.upmd.org/164/Public-Works

Police services will continue as usual. If you have any questions contact Chief Harvey Baker at hbaker@upmd.org; 301-789-8475. Call 911 for emergency services requiring an urgent response.

Mayor Len Carey and Town Administrator David Deutsch and will be working with Department Heads to be sure staff and residents are informed and manage the Town’s response during this crisis. If you have any questions contact Mayor Carey at mayorcarey@upmd.org; 240-338-2826 or Town Administrator David Deutsch at ddeutsch@upmd.org; 301-343-6033.
