Chief's Blog - What's UP (University Park)?!

Dear Residents,

Earlier this morning, two juveniles fled from the Prince George's County Police Department into the neighborhoods of University Park and College Heights Estates. They are suspects in numerous crimes, mainly Theft from Autos in the College Park area.

Timeline and Actions:

• School Safety: Out of an abundance of caution, University Park Elementary School was placed on lockdown from approximately 7:47 AM to 8:37 AM. An officer was immediately stationed at the school to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

• Apprehensions:

  • The first suspect was apprehended at approximately 7:43 AM near the intersection of 40th Avenue and Calverton Drive.

  • The second and final suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter at 8:45 AM in the 4000 block of Clagett Road.

There are no outstanding suspects at this time.

I want to thank our residents for their cooperation and patience, and commend the swift action of the PGPD who worked quickly to resolve this situation and ensure the safety of our schools and streets.
