Neighbors – Town Public Works crews are continuing to respond to the aftermath of Monday’s winter storm. Trash in the Town was picked up yesterday. Yard waste and compost collection is beginning today.
Public Works Director Mickey Beall has apprised that it will be necessary to collect yard waste and compost over the course of 2 days, due largely to the amount of tree debris generated by Monday's snow event. Here is the plan: - Yard waste and compost will be collected today--Wednesday, January 5 and Thursday, January 6. Generally, we hope to collect Wards 1,2,3 & 5 today and plan to collect Wards 4, 6 & 7 tomorrow. If you have already set your compost buckets out for collection today, please leave them out and we will get them tomorrow.
- Of course, many will not be able to get all tree debris in their yards out to the curb this week. We will be collecting again on Monday and will add additional days if needed.
- Please do not set out any branches or logs larger than 12" in diameter.
- If you hire a contractor to do tree work for you, please have them haul all debris.
- We will collect Christmas trees on any yard waste day.
- Recycling will be picked up on Friday as scheduled.
- Leaf Collection--We will also resume leaf vacuuming in Wards 4, 6 & 7 as soon as possible. All others should bag their leaves, which will be collected with yard waste on Mondays.
