On Saturday, May 19, we invited the community and those who were instrumental in helping us with the playground to join us for the ribbon cutting and the official opening of the new playground.
We were fortunate to have State Senator (and Town resident) Paul Pinksy,
District 22 Delegate Tawanna Gaines - who helped us obtain a grant which paid for most of the playground - and District 22 Delegate Anne Healey. Also present were Councilmembers Linda Verrill of ward 4, David Caskey of ward 5, Martha Wells of ward 6, Roy Alvarez of ward 7 and Public Works Director Mickey Beall. Many thanks to the playground advisory group - Chairs Kara Frome and Emilie Dworkin - and Greenbelt Elementary School's PE Teacher Christy Neff. We were delighted to have such a nice turnout on a dreary and rainy morning. We all noted that the kids didn't mind the weather and had great fun.
If you haven't visited the new playground, we hope you will. It is a wonderful addition to our community.
