July 24, 2021, 8:00 AM @ Top of Queens Chapel Road (by the bike station)
Leave at 8am from the bike station behind UP Town Hall at the top of Queens Chapel Road. We pedal bike paths down to the Navy Yard. The route mostly follows the Anacostia River. One-way it will take about 90 minutes. Once there, we can get breakfast at Harris Teeter or the Yellow Door and sit at the water front park to enjoy our eats and drinks. Another 90 minutes to come back the way we came. We should be back by noon. Weather looks magnificent. Don't miss it. Please share this with others who may enjoy it. No need to RSVP. Whoever shows goes.
July 24, 2021, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Pollinator Meadow in the Town park on Adelphi Road
Hosted by the UP Sustainability Committee, Meadow Day will feature perimeter meadow tour guides, a scavenger hunt with meadow seed packet prizes, a BUMBA Bowie/Upper Marlboro Beekeepers Association display, a UP Meadow Day Selfie Station and a group photo of all dressed in meadow costume attire—birds, flowers, bees, butterflies etc. Please feel free to bring your own binoculars, magnifying glass and guidebooks. Six stepping stools will be available to see into the meadow from the perimeter (we encourage walking around the meadow restoration area but not in it). Feel free to bring your own step stool, as well. Please leave your dog at home. Extra credit for bringing a reusable water bottle! Rain date is Saturday, August 7.
