  1. 19th Annual Azalea Classic

    April 24, 2021 - May 9, 2021 @ Via Zoom

    This year's Azalea Classic is virtual! Join the University Park community to show how strong we are together, even when we are apart. Register online at and run any race of your choice on any route—choose the 5K, our 1 Mile Challenge, or our 1K Family Fun Run. Run any time between April 24 and May 9 and submit your times (and a photo!) via the link on our Runner Info page: All registrants get an official race t-shirt with a student design done by a 2020 University Park Elementary School graduate. Huge thanks to all our local sponsors ( for supporting this community tradition. The annual Azalea Classic is organized by the University Park Elementary School PTA and all proceeds benefit programs at our neighborhood school.

  2. DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

    April 24, 2021, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ University Park Town Hall

    University Park Police supports the DEA’s safe disposal of drugs and will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Town Hall from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. University Park residents are encouraged to drop off prescription and over-the-counter drugs during the event. The University Park Police will take the drugs to DEA for proper disposal. Please wear your mask we will be social distancing. If you are unable to stop by Town Hall during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day please follow these simple steps for easy, responsible disposal (also applicable for liquid medication) of drugs: • Take unused, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs out of their original prescription bottles; • Crush medication and put it in a container such as an empty can or sealable bag; • Mix with coffee grounds, dirt, or kitty litter; • Discard with the regular trash.

  3. HHUP The Bard in April

    Helping Hands University Park, Hyattsville Aging in Place, Neighbors Helping Neighbors-College Park and Explorations on Aging College Park have joined together to launch Corridor Conversations, a monthly online series to entertain, engage and educate attendees, especially our older residents residing along the Route 1 Corridor. Attendees can join via telephone or Zoom. Celebrate Shakespeare's birthday with a look at what goes into producing a theatre classic. Join Hyattsvillian Janet Griffin, newly retired director of public programs and artistic producer for the Folger Theatre, to learn about the theater’s 2008 production of Macbeth. We'll also view a video from the 2008 performance and hear from the directors.
