Statement of the Mayor
I am pleased to report that the Town has completed purchase of the property at 4201 48th Avenue in Bladensburg which it had been leasing since 2010 for its Public Works Maintenance Facility. More information on this purchase can be found in the Mayor's Column in the September University Park Newsletter. Completion of the purchase eliminates an ongoing lease expense without incurring further debt, enabling continuation of vital Town Public Works operations with significant savings.
 
I appreciate the Town Council's strong support for the acquisition and the diligent work of Town Administrator David Deutsch and Town Attorney Suellen Ferguson to complete the purchase on Friday, September 3.
