We invite you to participate in a Community Conversation on Climate Change on Monday, June 10 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Word of God Baptist Church, 6513 Queens Chapel Road, University Park, in the meeting hall. This will be a discussion of how collectively and individually we can work to mitigate climate change and move to a more sustainable future.
To help facilitate the conversation, we have assembled a small panel of scientists and local leaders to suggest how municipalities can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and better prepare for the unavoidable impacts of climate change. The panelists include:
Andrew Mackenzie Fellows, Moderator — National Center on Smart Growth, University of Maryland. Also, former Mayor, City of College Park.
Brenda Ekwurzel, Ph.D. — Senior Climate Scientist and Director of Climate Science, Union of Concerned Scientists.
Kate Stewart — Mayor, City of Takoma Park.
Ralph Bennett — Emeritus Professor, School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, University of Maryland.
Russ Dickerson, Ph.D. — Professor of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, University of Maryland.
Please come, bring your friends and neighbors and join the conversation. We are in search of community-driven actions which will help us reduce the effects of climate change, and learn to adapt.
