Councilmember Linda Verrill, Ph.D., has lived on Van Buren Street in Ward 4 since 2000. She is married and has one son who went to UPES from kindergarten through 6th grade. Linda grew up in Honolulu and lived for 10 years in Hilo, Hawaii. Graduate school brought her to the mainland and eventually to UP. Currently, she is a social scientist at the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition in College Park. Linda has been heavily involved in UP community activities, regularly volunteering with the UPCA, chairing the UPES Mayfair for 3 years, chairing the UPCA Mutt Strut for 4 years, and joining the council as the Ward 4 representative in 2016.
On the Council, Linda chairs the Policy, Rules, and Municipal Structure Committee which developed the specs for the new town website. She is a member of the Police, Traffic, and Public Safety Committee (the little blue directional signs in Ward 2 were Linda’s idea). Linda's personal mission is to help others, be productive and positive, and have fun. She believes in the importance of:
