Refuse Removal
(Mon/Thurs OR Tues/Fri)
Refuse removal consists of your daily household trash that is not
recyclable. Refuse is collected twice weekly depending on where you live.
Trash should be placed in Town-provided toters. Please secure with lids to
prevent littering and attracting wild animals and birds. Residents may
keep toters at rear or side of home for pick-up. Call the Town office,
301-927-4262, to find out if your residence falls on the Monday/Thursday orTuesday/Friday pick-up cycle.
Grass and Yard Clippings
(Wednesday)
Yard clippings consists of grass clippings, leaves, and garden vegetation,
but not ivy, vines or bamboo. DO NOT place yard clippings in the streets,
curbs, gutters or parkways. They will only be removed if placed in a bag
and set at the curb on YARD CLIPPINGS pick-up day. (IVY, VINES AND BAMBOO
ARE NOT RECYCLABLE ITEMS. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THESE ITEMS IN BAGS.
PLEASE PUT THEM AT THE CURB ON YOUR REGULAR REFUSE REMOVAL DAY).
Brush Removal
(Wednesday)
These items consist of small branches, limbs and trimming pieces. Place
these items at the curb in piles so they can be picked up with a pitch
fork.
Limbs should not exceed 4' in length.
Leaf Removal by the Leaf Machine
(November/December)
In the fall, rake leaves to the curb line for removal by the leaf vacuum
machine which will operate during daylight hours. Use caution in raking
and be sure there are no rocks, metal, etc. in your leaf piles. At times other
than leaf season, bag leaves and leave them at the curb on the scheduled
yard clippings pick-up day.
Appliances with Refrigerants
(Special Pick-up)
There is a fee for removal of appliances containing refrigerants
(refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners). Call in advance to make
arrangements for removal. There is a $20 fee. Please make checks payable to Town of University Park.
Blue Bin - Newspaper and Mixed Paper
(Thursday or Friday)
Place envelopes, boxes, magazines, telephone books, cardboard AND NEWSPAPERS in
bin and place it at the curb. Waxed paper, styrofoam and food containers
contaminated with food stuff are not acceptable.
Yellow Bin - Recycle
(Thursday)
All recyclables, EXCEPT NEWSPAPER & MIXED PAPER, are collected Town wide on
Thursdays. Glass, metal and aluminum cans, and plastic containers are
acceptable items to be placed in your yellow bin. Please place bins at the
curb on Thursday mornings before 7:00 a.m.
When your refuse collection day falls on a holiday, your collection day will
be on the following day unless it falls on a Friday or you are notified
otherwise in the Town Newsletter. (For example: If a holiday falls on
Monday collection day, the refuse will be collected on Tuesday). Questions about
changes in refuse/recycling pick-up schedules should be directed to the
