Town shuttle bus riders have a phone number to call to learn of the status of the bus when inclement weather comes to town.

When storms come through our area, residents now have a phone number to call to learn of the status of the Shuttle Bus. Call 240-297-8287 to get all updates and current information.

Tuesday Public Works collections have been postponed to pick-up on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Due to the prediction of snow and inclement weather on Monday evening into Tuesday, trash, bulk trash and compost collections have been postponed to Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Please see the attached Winter Operations Flyer which details things you can do to ease the work of our snow crews, as well as, how to know the Town Shuttle Bus status.

The Town of University Park is issuing Addendum #1 on March 8, 2017, to amend and clarify information and specifications included in RFP UP-17-01, Website Redesign and Hosting Services. The information contained herein extends the bid due date and responds to questions received. This addendum will be incorporated into RFP UP-17-01 and any associated contract documents as if fully set out in the original RFP.

Riverdale Park Station

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE NOTICE

Weeks of: March 6, 2017 thru the week of March 13, 2017

What to Expect On-Site the Next Two Weeks:
The site and buildings General Contractor, L.F. Jennings, will continue site construction in multiple areas. Washington Gas Light (WGL), Verizon, Comcast, WSSC and Pepco are completing the installation of utility services to each new building. The base paving for the new road construction throughout the site is substantially complete. The park adjacent to Route 1 (Gateway Park) is substantially complete. The construction of the first section of the 119 townhomes is well underway. Model units are anticipated to open in early spring. Construction of three new commercial buildings (#1, 2 & 4) is well underway. Tenant fitout work in Building #3, for spaces other than Whole Foods Market, is on-going.

CSX Crossing:
The closure of the former ERCO plant parking lot between the Rivertech Court cul-de-sac and Lafayette Avenue will continue until the new bridge is open – estimated to be in the Fourth quarter of 2017.
The bridge builder, Shirley Contracting, has completed all foundation piles. The west abutment vertical walls have started and will continue for the next week. The east abutment walls will be formed and poured in the next 4 weeks. The steel girders are in fabrication off site. Following a two week delay due to CSX’s withdrawal of their flagmen, Shirley Contracting is now remobilizing. The girders are scheduled to be placed within the next 90 days. The construction will be monitored to assure compliance with County work hours and noise regulations.

Whole Foods Market:
Tenant fitout work inside Whole Foods Market is ongoing with completion anticipated in the spring.

Hiker/Biker Trail:
The Hiker/Biker Trail has been deeded to MNCPPC’s Department of Parks and Recreation who will manage and maintain the trail. They expect to open the trail for use by the public once they determine that site conditions are suitably safe from dangers associated with the immediately adjacent construction activities.

Work Hours:
Work activity will be taking place Monday – Sunday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. However, work on the State highway (Route 1) will be restricted to 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pile installation work will be Monday – Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
